Prem Kumar - Malayalam film artist - now very notable among the
young
heroes of Malayalam film industry. He is also famous as Tele Film and Serial
actor. He has acted in more than 90 films and in 18 of them as the hero. He
holds BTA Degree with First Rank and Gold Medal from Calicut University. |

Kumar is a native of Kazhakutom. His father is Mr.James Samuel and mother is Mrs.Jaya
Kumari. He has two brothers - Mr.Ajith Kumar and Mr.Prasanna Kumar. He had his school education from
Kazhakuttom Government High School and Kaniyapuram Muslim High School. He completed
Pre-Degree from St.Xaviers College, Thumba and Degree in Psychology from S. N. College,
Chempazhanthy. He also completed BTA degree from School of Drama, Calicut University with
First Rank and Gold Medal. |

During college days, Prem Kumar was
very active in arts and literature. He has won many State level awards as Best Actor in
drama competitions. He was selected as the panel artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan
during his college days. Has has staged many classic characters like Macbeth, Coreo
launus, Oedipus, Othello, etc. His performance as these characters were very much
appreciated by critics as well as audiance. Since he is trained from School of Drama he
can do any characters with less effort and also in his own style. |

Prem Kumar has started his career as
an actor through Television programmes. He has acted in many Tele Films and Serials as the
hero. He has received many awards including Kerala State Award for the BEST TELEVISION
ACTOR and the NANA MINI SCREEN AWARD. His first film was
"SAKHAVU", directed by the National award winner Mr.P.A.Backer. It was based on
the life of Veteran Communist leader Mr.P.Krishna Pillai. In this film he has played a
leading role. After that he has acted in many films as hero or as subordinate characters.
He can perform any type of characters - humour, serious, action, sentiments, romance, etc.
easily and has proved himself as a versatile actor. Now Prem has a better position in the
list of Best Actors of Malayalam Cinema. |
